Stevens Creek elementary is proud to support Science education through enrichment
programs like the Science Fair. The Science fair is held annually in the first week of March.
The Science fair project is voluntary for all students (grade 1-4). Entire 5th grade is
required to participate in the fair. The goals for the Science fair are to introduce
students to the Scientific Method, engage students in problem solving through
a variety of methods, sharpen students writing skills and presentation skills.
It is important that students and not parents decide to
participate in the Science fair. The objective is to motivate students
to display their creativity and how science relates to every part of
their lives. Please encourage your child to do a project at his/ her level.
The Science fair is not a competition. There is no judging. Every participant
is a winner and gets a participation certificate.
The Scientific Method is the focus of the project. Students should
understand and follow the steps of the Scientific Method. The steps
include identifying a problem, research, hypothesis, procedure,
result and conclusion. The project categories include experiment,
demonstration and collection.
We hope students will have a wonderful experience by participating
in the Science Fair. They are the Scientists for their projects. Explore! Learn! Have fun!
